Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay faced the public for the first time since the news broke about him being sent a letter allegedly stating ‘resign or be sacked!’
His first appearance was away at Anfield where Cardiff City faced Liverpool. Malky gave such a dignified and humbling interview before the game and proved why he is such a great manager and why not only Cardiff City fans are amongst his ever growing legion of fans.
Liverpool supporters cheered and applauded Malky as his team eventually lost 3 – 1 with a decent first 20 minute and second half performance from a side that has been making headlines around the world (albeit for all the wrong reasons!)
Liverpool manager and friend of Malky, Brendan Rodgers, gave a great post match interview paying tribute to Malky and the fans.
After the game the legion of Cardiff City fans stayed in the stadium and sang their hearts out in support of Malky with their plead ‘not to sack Mackay’ to the tune of the Billy Ray Cyrus track ‘Achy breaky heart.’
Don’t sack Mackay,
Malky Mackay,
I just don’t think you’ll understand,
But if you sack Mackay,
Malky Mackay,
You’re gonna have a riot on your hands.
