It’s a long road leading to Monmument Valley in Utah and a long way to go to be so close to a film shoot at such an extreme location. Ok, it wasn’t planned but was something we just happened to discover on a month vacation across the breadth of America.
The distinctive red stone shone in the Spring sunlight creating a fantastic back-drop for the latest version to be made of The Lone Ranger film in 2013.
Starring Johnny Depp as Tonto the filming took place in late March with a whole cascade of lorries, equipment and props being delivered to the site ready for the actor’s arrival.
A stream of lorries littered the normally vacant landscape and was labelled as ‘Base Camp’ for the production. They weren’t just at one specific point but in a few locations dotted around the Navajo Tribal Park! What a backdrop!
Locations and scenes were being set-up by crew but it seems Johnny Depp and all the cast were arriving just as we had to depart and visit Las Vegas! (it’s a hardlife!)
It was rumoured that this truck below was his residence for his stay here.
