It’s mid-August and it’s time for the Premier League to kick off in style with newly promoted Cardiff City away to West Ham and fellow rivals Swansea City home to giants Manchester United.
All these games get syndicated throughout the world with NBC pushing the American coverage for the 2013/2014 season with a 5 minute infomercial!
Featuring an american coach who comes to manage at Tottenham Hotspur – who has trouble with the scoring, rules and the geography!
The Yank coach, played by actor Jason Sudeikis, plays an absolute blinder – especially when referring to Gareth Bale and he finds out he isn’t from England but infact Wales – he then quips, ‘How many Countries are in this Country!’
It’s not just on-screen that the Premier League is being advertised but also on a poster and train campaign throughout the subway system in New York – this from Twitter user Cennydd Bowles.
The subway advertising campaign comes after Tottenham winger Gareth Bale was splashed across Times Square as part of NBC ‘s promotion.
Another promotion was: ‘Forget Downton Abbey. The real English drama is coming on August 17.’
Cardiff City seem to have the largest proportion of any team on the map in red (not blue!!) across the area known as Brooklyn.
Also a great tongue in cheek video about Cardiff City, the shirt colour and Vincent tan at the link below!
