Don’t be alarmed if you spot some men mooching about on top of the Millennium Stadium – they are currently carrying out some routine maintenance on the huge structure.
Two workmen have been climbing up the 90 metre masts (nearly 300ft!) for a few weeks now clearing off areas of rust and erosion and generally sprucing up the ageing metal structure.
High pressure water jets are used to dislodge the artefacts with the areas directly beneath being cordoned off so no debris can hit passing pedestrians.
Each workman is safely suspended via an elaborate set of ropes, pulleys and weights ensuring safety is paramount at all times.
The weather has been change able of late where work has stopped when wind speeds have increased or they can’t take anymore of these Spring showers.
This is purely a cosmetic makeover and once all the debris has been removed the masts will be repainted white and look like it did back in 1999.
