On a sunny Saturday 20th April 2013 – there was a ‘Ride Out’ in memory of Robbie Powell who died on the 17th April 1990, aged 10, of gross medical negligence.
The ride out started from The Big Bike Shop in Aberaman and headed to the National Assembly for Wales where it was hoped to hand in a petition for a public inquiry.
Here the group, of around 100 motorcycles, passed by Clarence Road Bridge in Grangetown, Cardiff. I’m sure I spotted a certain Lionel Fanthorpe and many spectacular motorcycles and bikes.
From the Robbie’s Law website:-
“The Ride Out will also show support for a full Public Inquiry into Robbie’s death and the subsequent cover up as well as support for Robbie’s Law.
Rather than accept the consequences of their failures the medical profession/NHS decided to cover up Robbie’s tragic death by, among other things, falsifying the child’s medical records.
The cover continues to this day.
Robbie’s case highlighted the fact that doctors are not under a Legal Duty to be honest about the negligent circumstances of a patient’s death or refrain from falsifying medical records.
