Back in August 2012 some chaps from Cardiff uploaded a video to YouTube on their channel EFstopmedia.
In the video a cyclist attempts to exceed the 30 mile per hour speed limit on a road in Cardiff thus trying to trigger the speed camera to jump into action and flash him. Watch the video below to see if he suceeds!
It seems the stunt has sparked a debate on whether exceeding the speed limit in a non-motorised vehicle is actually breaking the law or not?
Someone has stated that:-
Under Section 28 and 29 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, this would be classed as Dangerous or Careless and Inconsiderate riding, and therefore is an offense contrary to the Road Traffic Act 1988.
At this time of night and surely the impact of a small bike versus a large motorised vehicle with fuel inside is a totally different case and can’t be treated the same?
