Torfaen Council have created a video with an Elvis Presley impersonator detailing their efforts to keep the roads and pavements safe during the latest snowy period.
Darren “Graceland” Jones sings a version of the Elvis hit ‘In The Ghetto’ aptly changed to ‘In The Depot’ complete with wintry lyrics. Darren vocals are spot on and is such a great tribute act that he was recently named the best Elvis impersonator in Wales!
The two-and-a-half minute parody, ‘In the Depot’, features ‘Elvis’ complete with front line staff performing in some well known Torfaen locations including Pontypool Park, Cwmbran bus station and the council depot on Friday when the area was first hit by the snow.
The video has been heavily featured on the council’s website and other social media outlets and Torfaen Head of Communications, Neil Jones said:
‘We’re always looking at innovative ways to engage residents with innovative and memorable council messages. We have built a fantastic online community and this is a fun way to show residents our appreciation for their helpful comments during the past few days. This video highlights the vital work of our winter maintenance crews and an must thank ‘Darren Graceland’ Jones for giving his time to help important messages on gritting.’
