FOOTBALL-Cardiff City leave for Wembley

With just 48 hours to go until Cardiff City take on Premiership side Liverpool in the Carling Cup Final 2012 at Wembley – fans were given a chance to cheer the lads off in style from the Cardiff City Stadium.

From about 12:20 on Friday 24th February the players dribbled out of the Cardiff City Stadium to rounds of applause and cheering before getting on the coach that will take them on their fourth trip to Wembley in the last four years!

The fans chanted ‘We’re on our way to Wembley’ and ‘Do the Ayatollah Malky’ whilst clapping, cheering, doing the Ayatollah themselves and taking the all important photos!

Some of the players stopped to meet and greet some of the younger kids who had made an organised visit from a local school with some lucky enough to get an autograph.
Manager Malky Mackay was last out but wasn’t tempted to do the Ayatollah at all- maybe he’s saving himself for Wembley. đŸ˜‰
ITV and BBC were there with BBC reporter Ashleigh Crowter recording right amongst the crowd.

Within seconds of the bus being full, the door closed and it quickly pulled off and drove off to more chanting and applause before it disappeared into the distance leaving via Sloper Road.

A lot of fans then decided to pay a visit to the ‘City Superstore’ and with long queues forming was the busiest I had seen it for a while! Loads of Wembley and Carling Cup souvenirs and branded t-shirts being snapped up!

Less than 48 hours to go now and it’s all rather starting to get exciting!
The Carling Cup Final programme was delivered yesterday, I managed to lift the actual Carling Cup yesterday whilst people joked that I’ll be the only Cardiffian to lift this cup this year! (The cheek of it!)

Whilst all the silverware was being passed around I also had the chance to meet WBO champion Nathan Cleverly and had a quick pose with his belt aswell!

So the posters are up, the programme has been read from cover to cover and I hope to see the Carling Cup back in the hands of some different Cardiff men on Sunday!
