Within the suburb of Llandaff, Cardiff, there is an amazing display of talent flourishing out of the first official dedicated grafitti and street art gallery – known as The Boiler House. This is taken from The Boiler House Press Release in February 2010 when the project opened:-
The Cardiff based arts collective ‘Peaceful Progress’ has transformed an old Boiler House into Wales’ first dedicated Graffiti and Street Art Gallery. It includes a large indoor graffiti gallery space, over 100ft of outdoor wall space, a shop and a studio. This innovative project provides a legitimate space for graffiti artists to reach a wider audience and showcases Graffiti art as a positive and sustainable art-form. Through workshops with Schools and Community Centres the Boiler House will inspire young people to get creative, and will be especially good at engaging with hard to reach groups of young people.
Nestling alongside The Boiler House and Hailey Park there is a lane (or gulley as we like to call them in Cardiff) which is an extension of the great work that this facility provides and is free for all to visit at anytime.
These photos were taken late in December 2011 and showcase what amazing talent and creative artists we have on our doorstep in Cardiff. I’ll let the photos do the talking!
Hopefully you agree that there is some real beauties in there – what an amazing show of talent and creativity – here’s to some more for 2012!
PS – not too sure what the nose is all about in the last one mind!
Amazing colors! Love the creativity!
The true Art of Graffiti! Nice one. Has it been respected?
Yes it has been respected! But the walls are regularly added to and some people do feel the need to add tags but nothing THAT detrimental!
Let’s hope for some new pieces on the wall soon!
Thanks for your comments!
Lee.
