Well it’s that time of year again when we take a look back at some of the dance hits that were popular (and not so popular) in 2011 and mix them up into one handy chunk – more commonly known as a ‘Yearmix’
I can’t make my mind up whether 2011 has been a bit of a better year than the last few in the realms of dance music – but there still was an amazing selection of tracks to listen to and decide whether they deserved a place in the mix. In my opinion a yearmix couldn’t and shouldn’t just contain all the highest charting dance records which could’ve crossed over into the commerical market but then I didn’t want to make it that underground that noone knew of any of the records included. It’s a hard line to walk and I hope I’ve pulled it off by featuring all the big hits you would expect to be featured from 2011 and then also some other tracks that may not have been as popular outside the UK – but still popular in the clubs.
From the outset (and if you’ve ever heard any of my previous Yearmixes) you will know that this is most definately not a house-music purist’s mix – anything but! It’s all a bit of fun really, with some total cheese, and commerical fodder in there but I hope also some half decent club tracks aswell.
Not much hip-hop worth featuring this time but loads of house tracks which seemed to have slowed down in bpm – 115bpm the mix starts off at. Then taking a stroll through upto 130bpm and ending with some drum n bass and dubstep.
So here it is – I present to you the DJ Leekee Dance Yearmix 2011 – 80 tracks in just over 80 minutes – a half decent year in dance music!
