CARDIFF-Man arrested for drunk driving a milk float

A 51 year old man has been arrested after being found driving a milk float along Pontcannna Street, Pontcanna in Cardiff. Police had followed the 20mph vehicle which they said was being driven “erratically” and stopped the driver around 1am in the leafy suburb.

Mike Lyons, who was drinking at The Cameo Club early on Saturday spoke to The Sun, and said: “Somebody came in just before 1am to say there was a kind of road rage incident. We went out and there was this milk float with two cop cars and a police van. They put him in the van then loaded his float on to a tow truck. It was ridiculous. Obviously people shouldn’t be drink-driving but this was a bit over the top.”

A female customer on the milk round, who did not want to be named, said: “You usually expect the milkman at 5am.”

South Wales Police have said that “A 51-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Saturday in Pontcanna Street on suspicion of drink-driving.He was subsequently charged and has been bailed to appear at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on June 20.”
