An articulated lorry got stuck under a railway bridge at the top end of Bute Street yesterday. Around 2:30pm the lorry, laiden with mattresses, approached the 14ft 9 bridge and attempted to pass under but obviously got stuck. No major structural problems have been reported about the bridge and roads were re-opened after an hour – during which the whole of the surrounding area was brought to a stand-still. No local train services were affected by the incident but rather than the usual excuse of ‘leaves on the line’ – I wondered if they would’ve used the ‘mattresses under the sleepers’ line instead!?
Thanks to Tom Ashmore for one of the images! (Im sure you can spot which one it is! But it’s typical – I was stuck in the gym when it happened and only managed to stumble across the aftermath!)
