Thought it was about time to stick the holiday video up from Hong Kong! It’s split into four separate videos (for some reason) so starts with general shots of Hong Kong and the longest elevator in the world (possibly!) Also some great shots from the hotel windows and a never ending ride on their tram systems! Then it was off to Ngong Ping cable cars – the highest in the world (possibly!) and off to meet the biggest Buddha in the world (and you get the idea with that!)
There seemed to be some 60th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China going on everywhere so we joined in the celebrations by sampling the Official State Beer of China Yangjing! Twas loverly and only about 50p for a humungous pint n half bottle (relatively hangover free aswell!)
We seemed to be trapped in a never ending cycle of being drawn to Lan Kwai Fong – after the third night we made a pact that we weren’t going there and were going to try somewhere different. We took the tram in a totally different direction, got off somewhere we didnt have a clue where we were, walked for 5 minutes turned a corner and lo and behold we were only thrust back into Lan Kwai Fong and an endless supply of bars offering us really great Happy Hour(s) – oh the dirty filthy draw of Lan Kwai Fong. It unintentionally drew us back the next few nights aswell – we were hooked on its grubby clutches!
From the video you’d think that the nighttime was full of drinking and more drinking – and you are probably right! We were lucky to be in Hong Kong whilst there was a meeting at Happy Valley racecourse (twas fairly big but maybe not the biggest in the world….) and a chance to waste money on trying to work out how all the betting worked over there! I didnt have a single winner – but the beer was great!
An amazing time was had in Hong Kong and I really cant wait to go back and do all the stuff we never had time to fit in! I might even squeeze together one last video of all the other stuff that we did do – just to prove it wasnt 100% drinking all the time! honest! Im sure we did see some culture somewhere! 😉
