PHOTOS-Cardiff City Centre on International Rugby Day inc Hooters!

After watching Cardiff Blues thrash Glasgow Warriors at the Cardiff City Stadium it was time to jump on the free bus and head straight to the City Centre to find a suitable drinking establishment to watch the next game – Wales v All Blacks at the Millennium Stadium.
As soon as we got into town (around 3pm) every bar was already full with long queues already forming outside! There was also loads of people milling around the extremely cold streets near the Castle. This is the busiest I have seen the City Centre for many a year!

The only place without a queue was Live Lounge but it was still extremely busy with an amazing atmosphere inside. A band were performing all the best Welsh rugby anthems (and some Irish ones too!) with the crowd joining in and singing along!

Kick off was approaching ever closer, and the lucky people who had tickets for the game had began to filter out of all the pubs, so it was time to venture elsewhere and ensure we get some decent seats, with a prime view, ready for what we thought was going to be the most exciting game of rugby of the day!
We quickly opted for Haha’s and instantly found vacant seats! Some punters had already bagged the best seats in the house! Or maybe my eyesight wasnt as bad as theirs!

It was well gone 5 o’clock now and BBC 2 Wales were still showing some tennis game between Murray v Nadal. The whole place was beggining to feel uneasy and many people went to the bar to try and get the manager to turn over to S4C. As the punters became more loud the staff obliged and switched to S4C ready for the anthems and minutes silence. BBC 2 network and BBC 2 Wales missed all of this only joining the game in the 8th minute of play!
At this stage Twitter and Facebook had been going mad with the disbelief of the Nation that our national broadcaster has chosen NOT to show the promised rugby match and instead quietly relegated it onto the ‘red button.’ A total shocking decision from the Beeb so much so that the terms ‘S4C’ and ‘tennis’ were trending in Cardiff with most people now watching coverage on S4C instead.

Quick bit of celeb spotting in Haha’s and The Glee club’s Chris Corcoran obviously still affected by the result of the rugby!

Next up was Tiger Tiger and a chance for some music and celebration of what was deemed a promising performance from Wales against New Zealand!

Obviously at this stage we were all pretty damn drunk and camera skills were going downhill a bit! I did manage to stop a Kiwi with some really great face paints on though! (mustve been drunk!)

Then amazingly they let us into Hooters even though we hadnt eaten a thing all day! Couldnt wait to try their boneless chicken wings and ‘hospitality’! I think I’ll let the photos do the talking as I don’t particularly remember much at all – but I probably annoyed them all taking the photos! lol

I dont think the food particularly filled us up so it was time to visit the Wurst Bar on The Hayes but first passing by some students recording a film review!

Ending with a quiet stroll down Caroline Street, watching the homeless mix with the drunks (summat like that!) and then still the masses of people skirting around St Mary Street.
A good day was had by all and more importantly we watched the BEST game of rugby between Cardiff Blues and Glasgow Warriors! Happy days!
A full slideshow of the whole days photos can be seen here featuring loads more from hooters!
