As part of Cardiff’s Summer Festival the Wow on The Waterfront event was being held in Roald Dahl Plas (ok its The Oval Basin still to most of us!) And this year it featured the award-winning Spanish/Argentine company Grupo Puja! performing their new routine “K@osmos”. We were promised an adrenaline fuelled aerial spectacle and it didn’t disappoint!
A giant white metal framed ball was attatched to a very large crane and with a lot of precision was swung, spun, bounced around The Basin (and the crowd) to an amazing effect.
Once all eight performers had attatched themselves to the ball – they were lifted into the air to give an intense performance to the music with increasingly difficult formations!
During this acrobatic air ballet, the performers were suspended 150 feet in the air with a breathtaking succession of poetic images, a visualization of cosmic energy accompanied by high octane live music.(I wish I remembered the name of the band as they were VERY good.) You almost forgot that they were playing everything live as it really was so authentic and professional! A good selection of thier musical performance is captured in the video below.
Vodpod videos no longer available.
Cue obligatory shot of fireworks in Cardiff Bay! One of the better firework displays that Cardiff City Council have put on this year!
