Iconic buildings in Cardiff Bay were plunged into darkness last night as they took part in a global initiative to support the World Wildlife Fund called EarthHour.
The Millennium Centre, The Senedd, The Pierhead Building, St Davids Spa Hotel and many others switched off their external lights at 20:30 to support the initative. As the bay was fairly dark without any buildings illuminated and street lighting turned off with very little ambient light around, Cardiff Council decided to illuminate Cardiff Bay naturally with a display of fire acrobatics in the Oval Basin.

It seemed it was business as usual for all the restaurants in Cardiff Bay though – but you would think the few right on top of the Oval Basin wouldve been a bit more sympathetic to the cause and at least dimmed some of their external lights as part of the whole initiative.
Some fantasitc photos from EarthHour there DJ Leekee! Would it be ok if I feature them on the guardian Cardiff blog? Email me cardiff.local@guardian.co.uk.
Thanks,
