I’m not entirely sure where to start with this post but it has become an ever increasing part of Cities around the World to not only include tagging, graffiti and amazing street art but also now the introduction of stickers too.
It may seem a little mundane but when a lot of these stickers are placed in the same position it can have quite an impact.
The term ‘Sticker Combo’ has been derived when a lot of different sticker and graffiti artists participate in a mass sticker session and target an individual area.

GRAFFITI-Cartoon Characters around Cardiff
I have recently noticed that cartoon characters have made their way into the graffiti scene in Cardiff and are springing up everywhere. From Disney’s Mickey Mouse to Laurel and Hardy, Bugs Bunny and even old skoolers Heckle and Jeckle! Can anyone name all the characters featured? More to come real soon!
GRAFFITI-Lembo work around Cathays and Roath
Ever walked along a street around Roath, Cathays and even the City Centre and spotted a small cat lurking on a lampost or street sign?
Well it’s probably by local street artist Lembo. I don’t actually know anything else about this character apart from to say that they predominently feature cats, stencils and the odd bit of political graffiti.

Recently Lembo has taken his cat theme a bit further and featured a lime green cat near the Elm Street lanes but also a much more fantastic full size cat-face on the side of Home Bargains on Albany Road.

QUESTION-Vicious sticker outside Cardiff Arms Park
Just spotted this horrendous sticker at one of the entrances to the Cardiff Arms Park rugby stadium on Westgate Street.
I was initially drawn to the Cardiff Blues sign to see if any further details were on display concerning the amount of Cardiff Blues games now to be held at the site. But instead I found this quite offensive sticker!

It appears to illustrate a dark shadow/silhoutte attempting to cut someone’s throat! Is that supposed to be an activist in the hat complete with megaphone in his hand? Does anyone recognise this sticker or the artist involved? Read more…
GRAFITTI-Boilerhouse and Hailey Park in Winter
Within the suburb of Llandaff, Cardiff, there is an amazing display of talent flourishing out of the first official dedicated grafitti and street art gallery – known as The Boiler House. This is taken from The Boiler House Press Release in February 2010 when the project opened:-
![]()
The Cardiff based arts collective ‘Peaceful Progress’ has transformed an old Boiler House into Wales’ first dedicated Graffiti and Street Art Gallery. It includes a large indoor graffiti gallery space, over 100ft of outdoor wall space, a shop and a studio. This innovative project provides a legitimate space for graffiti artists to reach a wider audience and showcases Graffiti art as a positive and sustainable art-form. Through workshops with Schools and Community Centres the Boiler House will inspire young people to get creative, and will be especially good at engaging with hard to reach groups of young people.![]()

GRAFITTI-New Spades characters popping up again
On my travels through the City Centre recently and imagine my surprise when I spotted a big bright pink thing on the window of Howell’s!
Yep the cheeky little blob/whale character, by artist Spades, had made a return to Cardiff! This time aerosols weren’t used but instead a mixture of crayon and pens/ink?

GRAFFITI-Gets Eaten by that Naughty Stickman
There have been many displays of art under the bridge that carries the Western Avenue (A48) over the River Taff near the UWIC campus in Llandaf.
The first photo I took was back in September 2010 where this great little red character featured predominently under the bridge.

GRAFITTI-Roxejam 2011

The RoxeJam was originally set up in 2007 by Lou Lockwood as a memorial to her son Bill(aka Roxer), who had died in a road accident.
Prior to the event all the previous artwork was painted over with black paint ready for this year’s creations. Previous blog post about the blacked out wall at http://djleekee.wordpress.com/2011/07/25/grafitti-preparations-for-roxejam-2011/
It’s a 2 day free event held at SevernOaks Park in Grangetown, Cardiff bringing together all elements of hip hop and graffiti culture. The main attraction is most definately the huge 140m graffiti wall which is re-decorated yearly as a collaboration between graffiti artists from the local area and from across the whole of the UK.

GRAF-’Enta’ legal art opposite Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff.

There is a small legal wall featuring various pieces of art opposite Chapter Arts Centre in Canton, Cardiff.
It’s essentially a small wall at the side of someone’s house who have allowed artwork to be displayed there.
The first piece sprung up back in December in 2010 and was of a cute little chav girl – but it seemed like they were interupted mid-flow when Rhodri Morgan and other dignatories passed!
