FOOTBALL-Blunders that made it to tv

Well on the day that Dave Jones was effectively sacked from Cardiff City and the same day that Swansea City beat Reading 4-2 at Wembley – Sky Sports just couldn’t get their heads around the fact that there is another team in Wales …ummm.. called Swansea (someone let their graphics department know about what their badge looks like ready for next season!)

StatusQuo

TV-Status Quo-’Rock n Rock You’ Live on Daybreak with skipping cd player

Rockers Status Quo appeared on ITV1 show Daybreak to perform their new single ‘Rock n Roll n you’ live by the River Thames.
The first portion of the song was successful but unfortunately the backing track jumped back to the top of the CD and all members of the band had to seemlessly start mimming the whole song from the top again on live tv. (The boys done well to pick it all back up!) In this second rendition of the track the cd is heard to skip again and cut out even more! Not as embarassing as Martha’s Harbour though!?

Another longer version – complete with the whole interview is available at:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coijQEzAZFg

Rhodri Morgan-European Cup parade through Cardiff City Centre
European Cup parade through Cardiff City CentreIt was a glorious Saturday lunchtime and rugby fans were out in force ready for the Heineken Cup Final at the Millennium Stadium. There was a light police prescence around the city centre taking care of proceedings.
It seems that ex-First Minister Rhodri Morgan was having some lunch at Jamie’s Italian before the rugby match and he seemed to be in shock at something that he saw on the menu! Maybe he couldn’t find the (new) Clarks Pies on there! Read more…

Scintillating Scotoma

I bet you’ve clicked this link and thought – “what on earth is one of those?” Well after much research I discovered that I experienced one last night and felt compulsed to write a quick blog on it!

Photobucket
I had just finished eating my chicken and veg stirfry and consumed a cup of coffee and a small block of dark chocolate. Within minutes of finishing my food and drink there was a strange blur occuring in my eyes. It was as if there was some sleep or some blob right in the centre of each eye. I checked in the mirror and got someone else to check aswell but they couldnt see anything out of the ordinary. The blur and movement became more intense, with the centre clearing and then becoming a bigger ring in my eyes, with it not being as blurry in the centre anymore but sharp lines all flashing every colour of the rainbow! To begin with it reminded me of the ancient computer game Tempest mixed with Geometry Wars!

Closing my eyes I could still vividly see this amazing light show but didn’t know what was actually occurring – was I losing my eye sight? had a drink been spiked? was I having an allergic reaction to something?

Someone else has made an animation to show exactly what the person sees – and this is so accurate! It was like a cross between the Northern Lights and the Hong Kong Symphony of Lights!! Click that start button to play the animation!

It seems that a scintillating scotoma is also known as an aural migraine, which manifests itself first as this amazing visual display followed by an actual ‘head’ migraine. Luckily I didnt get the headache just the visuals.

A list of things that can trigger an attack are :-
allergic reactions
bright lights
loud noises
certain odours and perfumes
physical or emotional stress
changes in sleep patterns
smoking or exposure to smoke
skipping meals
alcohol
caffeine
foods containing tyramine (red wine, aged cheese, smoked fish, chicken livers, figs, and some beans)
monosodium glutamate (MSG)
nitrates (like bacon, hot dogs, and salami)
other foods such as chocolate, nuts, peanut butter, avocado, banana, citrus, onions, dairy products, and fermented or pickled foods

The whole experience lasted the best part of an hour then resided and my vision turned back to normal as it disappeared beyond my periphiral vision! Quite worrying to begin with but in a bizzare way almost quite enjoyable from a visual point of view! Let’s hope it’s a long time before I have another attack!

Swar stickers

GRAFITTI-Stickers and canvas from Swar

Swar-Sticker Set
Whilst browsing some grafitti online I came across an amazing set of stickers, artwork and grafitti from America artist Swar. You can view all his work via his Flickr stream at http://www.flickr.com/photos/im-swar/ - I was instantly hooked by his illustrations and use of colour!

Swar-Acrylic piece
But there was one piece that really stood out from the rest (pictured above), so much so that I messaged him on Flickr and purchased this canvas for a very reasonable price! I am really over the moon with it and feel really tempted to buy some more to go with it! Read more…

The Apprentice 2011

TV-The Apprentice 2011

The 2011 series of The Apprentice has got off to a tremendous start on BBC One in May. This year 16 contestants are fighting to be Lord Alan Sugar’s Apprentice (its still S’ralan to the rest of us) but fighting for the prize of £250,000 worth of value in a business venture with Lord Sugar himself.

Once again I have morphed all the contestants together in one video! ENJOY.

Royal wedding celebrations

CARDIFF Celebrates The Royal Wedding

We were all granted an extra day’s Bank Holiday for the Royal Wedding between Prince William of Wales and Catherine Middleton taking place on Friday 29th April, 2011.
It was widely reported that outside London the highest number of street parties being organised was right here in Cardiff (Cardiff Council reported that 54 streets had applied for permission to close the streets for the Royal Wedding.)

Cardiff City Council also provided viewing, chairs and the obligatory bunting in The Hayes to an audience of hundreds.
I was in work on this momentus day so only managed to get all these photos on the way into work hence they aren’t THAT full of people – but hopefully do give an essence of what was about to occur! Read more…

CCFC Decorated van

CCFC-Van decorated in support for Cardiff City FC

Cardiff City FC decorated van
Parked alongside the Cardiff City Stadium was this lovingly decorated vehicle. CARDIFF CITY was emblazoned on the sides with a Bluebird logo aswell. It seems that spray cans were also used to give it that home-made and urban look! I’m not entirely sure whether it’s still work in progress!

Well done lads – a really iconic van for when we go upto the Premiership! Have you spotted any other football branded vehicles on the roads around Cardiff? Read more…
